Introduction
Lectors play a very important and distinct role in the celebration of the liturgy – they proclaim the Word of God. Because of the importance of this ministry, attention must be given to intensive training, practice, and prayers before a lector proclaims the Word of God. This is to ensure that the Word of God is proclaimed clearly to the people of God in worship. To this effect, lectors at Holy Family of Nazareth (HFN) must arrange ways to come together as a ministry several times during the year to reflect together on their functions and help one another in living out the demands of the ministry effectively. This calls for setting aside times for required lector development workshops and training throughout the year. A lector who reads the Word of God must be ready to receive positive feedback with humility in areas that need improvement.
Periodically, and as the need arises, HFN will continue to create guidelines suitable for the local practice of the parish community.
