Safe Environment Program
As Christians we have a moral and legal responsibility and are entrusted by God with the spiritual, emotional and physical well being of all God's people. It is our responsibility and commitment to provide an environment, which is safe and nurturing for all who participate in activities sponsored by our faith community and or diocese.
Safe Environment Program for the Parish
Safe Environment Training Schedule
Screening Form - Initial trainees (1st time trainees) should complete the online “Screening Form” at https://dallas.setanet.org/screening.php.
NOTE: It is necessary to print the last page, sign & send it to the parish office (step 4 of instructions).
If you are not a computer user, you should arrive 20 minutes early for form completion and photos. You should bring information for three (3) unrelated references who have known you for at least 3 years. You will need their name, phone number, address and e-mail, if applicable. Pre-registration is required. Childcare is available and should be requested at time of pre-registration(safety@holyfamilychurch.net or 972-790-5775).
Online Renewal-(also called “UPDATE” RENEWAL): Please note that you must have attended a “Family of Faith” class in order to be eligible for online renewal and you must confirm eligibility via email to our Safe Environment Coordinator. After confirming eligibility, click on http://www.cathdal.org.
Next, click on “A Safe Environment” (on the right – 3rd item - on the same line as “Roman Catholic Diocese of Dallas”). Next, click on “Update Training” (under “Additional Links” – on the left); you will note the options listed for updating your training:
“Adult Abuse”
“Church Law Today"
“What Can We Do About Child Abuse”
* Church Law Today offers four (4) seminars from which you select ONLY ONE
NOTE: There are multiple lessons in each of the 4 “Church Law Today“ seminars and all lessons in the selected seminar must be completed. They are:
(1) “Understanding the Problem of Child Sexual Abuse & the Church”
(2) “Principles of Supervising Children & Youth”
(3) “Reporting Child Abuse”
(4) “Responding to Allegations of Abuse”
If you elect to use a “Church Law Today” seminar, when you select it, an instruction page comes up which you are to follow. (Click on “Church Law Today” in Step 1 to get to the website). Select “Comprehensive Training” (on the right sidebar). It may not be necessary to enter the User Name & Password – try it both ways (without and with) – if you are prompted to pay a $78.00 fee, THAT IS NOT REQUIRED – contact the Safety Coordinator, Marlene, at 972-790-5775 – or via email at above address.
You need to complete only ONE seminar and it CANNOT be one you have taken previously. When you confirm eligibility for online renewal, you will be given information on any previous online seminars taken (see Paragraph 1 above).
“Adult Abuse” and “What Can We Do About Child Abuse” have both tests and a Certificate of Training to complete. “Church Law Today” seminars have only tests to complete and turn in.
PLEASE: Put your name, address (if changed), email and phone number on the documents turned in so current information is available for sending your new badge. It is helpful for you to list any ministries you currently work in.
Turn all the paperwork in to the Holy Family Office, Attn: Safe Environment.
Thank you for your service to our community and for keeping your training current!
