Baptism Formation classes
are required for both parents and Godparents. The baptism preparation session at Holy Family is designed to provide the formation and information needed to fully understand the Sacrament of Baptism and your role as a Catholic parent/godparent.
Classes are on Saturdays, 9am to noon in the Family Life Center, Gonzales room

Who can ask to have an infant/child baptized at Holy Family?
Parent or legal guardian.
Should I attend the class before or after the birth of my child?
It is strongly recommended, but not required, that you attend the Baptism Formation Class before your child is born.
What are the requirements for parents?
one parent must be a baptized Catholic, who is committed to raising the child in the Catholic faith. Attendance at the 3-hour

the child is baptized. It is strongly encouraged that both parents attend the Baptism Formation Session. A copy of the child’s birth certificate must be given to the baptism coordinator
What are the requirements for godparents (sponsors)?
The godparent promises to support and assist the parents in raising the child in the Catholic faith, and be a mentor to the child in the Catholic faith. One godpaent is required, but two are permitted. Godparents must be at least 16 years of age, practicing Catholics in good standing, and have celebrated the Sacraments of Baptism, Eucharist, and Confirmation. If married, the marriage must be according to the laws of the Catholic Church. Godparents are required to complete a Baptism Formation Session
the child’s baptism. A non-Catholic Christian may be a Christian Witness
with a Catholic godparent.
What if I have already attended baptism formation?
If parents or godparents have attended a Baptism formation within the
past three years
, the class does not have to be repeated. Provide proof of the class to the baptism coordinator.
Is childcare available during the session?
Childcare is available for children ages 6-months and older. Pre-registration for childcare is required. We must know the number of children needing childcare in order to provide a safe environment for them. You are welcome to bring infants to class with you.
What is the cost?
We ask that you pay a $25 registration fee to help cover the cost of the materials. If there is a financial concern, please call us.

When is the Sacrament of Baptism held?
Once all of requirements have been fulfilled, the Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated during weekend Masses. Please call for availability.
